"I am In the Remedial Training, Too" program initiated in an effort to overcome social and emotional losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic continues with wide range of activities in an effort to reach all children in the country.
The Ministry of National Education started a separate project for the children of seasonal agricultural workers who travel around the country in order to work in agricultural fields in different parts of Turkey with their children during the summer.
"Mobile Schools" were established in Adana, Ankara, Çanakkale, Diyarbakır, Manisa, Mersin, Ordu, Sivas, Şanlıurfa, Şırnak and Hatay as a part of the "I am In the Remedial Training, Too" program.
Mobile Schools offer psychosocial support with an integrated approach and provide training programs for teachers and parents.
Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk has been meeting with children throughout the country as a part of the I am In the Remedial Training, Too" program activities and recently visited the mobile school located in the Çimşit Neighborhood of Kahramankazan district of Ankara.
Minister Selçuk attended remedial training activities organized for 62 children from different grades who have been staying at the tent city which is 10 kilometers to the district center. Mobile school offers literacy classes, mind games, preschool activities, music lessons, outdoor games and fairy tale classes for children.
Teacher Ziya took part in an egg experiment and played games with children.
Volunteer teachers organize activities suitable to the needs of children
Stressing that responding to the different needs of children living in different parts of the country is their own responsibility, Minister Selçuk made following announcement regarding the project: "Actually, we have been working on the question about the education of the children of seasonal agricultural workers for years. This year, we considered the conditions that surfaced due to the pandemic and focused on how to maintain equal opportunities in education. Due to mobility of agricultural workers during summer, we initiated the "Mobile School" project in 11 cities playing host to the largest number of seasonal agricultural workers. Volunteer teachers are working in this project. Our colleagues are preparing required contents by considering the needs of our students. This includes education activities in fundamental concepts of lessons as well as physical, cultural, sports and mind games.
Minister Selçuk stated that mobile schools have teacher support and all kinds of necessary education materials and expressed his gratitude to teachers who gave support to the project.
Noting that the Ministry is planning to initiate other projects in order to increase the quality of education offered to the children of seasonal agricultural workers, Minister Selçuk added, "These are our children... I want to thank everyone who provides support to the "I am In the Remedial Training, Too" program and the "Mobile School" project.
