SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN BURSA

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said during his speech at the launch of Scholarship Support Program for Vocational High School students that his Ministry supports not only academic development of students but also their cultural and artistic skills.
 
Noting that the program was initiated by Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş, Özer went on to say that: 
 
"Mayor Aktaş will give 300 liras monthly scholarship to 3,000 students enrolled in vocational high schools in the 2022-2023 school year. He is considering increasing the number of students to 5,000 soon."
 
Minister Özer congratulated Bursa Mayor and expressed his wish that his move will spread to other cities.
 
"Vocational education is crucial for the development of our country. The Ministry of National Education has worked night and day in order to improve vocational education and achieved a paradigm shift. Employers are included in the education process. Our Ministry cooperates with employers in the update of curriculum and design professional improvement programs for teachers," stated Özer.
 
He reminded that vocational high schools earned 1 billion and 162 million liras from their production capacity in 2021 and distributed approximately 55 thousand liras to students. Özer said that they also founded R&D centers at vocational high schools in order to raise awareness about intellectual and industrial property rights.
 
Minister Özer stressed that amendment in the law on vocational education centers caused an increase in the number of students enrolled in these centers and they wished that the number of students in these centers will reach 1 million until the end of 2022.

He reminded that in addition to schools, the Ministry has been founding libraries, youth centers, culture and arts centers and sports centers adding that the Ministry is adamant to work in an effort to provide quality of education to students.
