Number of teachers who have attended on the job and professional improvement training programs in the first six months of this year are higher than the total of teachers who completed training programs.
Deputy Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer noted that the Ministry has taken important steps in the last two years for the reinforcement of vocational education.
Özer said: "One of the most important issue we focused on is organizing constant on the job and professional improvement training programs for vocational and workshop teachers. This would allow us to update the knowledge and experience of our teachers and provide them with new information about the technological developments and changes. This directly has an impact on the quality of vocational education. Especially, we have established strong cooperation with the private sector. Number of teachers who completed on the job and professional improvement training programs was 2 thousand and 500 in 2018. With the support of the private sector, this figure rose to 18 thousand in 2019 and to 46 thousand and 582 in 2020. In the first six months of 2021, 51 thousand and 220 vocational and workshop teachers have completed on the job and professional improvement training programs. We are aiming at giving training programs to 78 thousand and 400 teachers until the end of this year. I would like to thank Director General for Vocational and Technical Education Kemal Varın Numanoğlu and his colleagues, provincial directors of national education in 81 cities, school principals and teachers who successfully coordinated this process."
