MINISTER ÖZER GOT TOGETHER WITH TURKISH STUDENTS AND EDUCATION ATTACHES IN NEW YORK

As a part of his visits in New York, Minister Özer first met with Turkish students continuing their masters and doctorate programs in the US in Turkish House in New York.
 
Minister Özer reminded that students who completed their masters and doctorate programs abroad in 1940s and 1950s returned to Türkiye and made important contributions to the development of the country as well as being the pioneers in their field of study.
 
Özer stressed that Türkiye achieved an important increase in schooling rates in all levels of education especially in the last twenty years and added that they also lifted all barriers in front of equal opportunity in education.
  
"You are very valuable for us"
"You are very valuable for the Ministry of National Education" said Özer, "You are also very valuable for the Republic of Türkiye. You are representing your country and you will make a great contribution to the reinforcement of Türkiye's information society when you return home. This is our expectation. We wish that the great majority of you will return to Türkiye and work in an effort to make your country stronger and make a contribution. This is all we expect from you," stated Özer.
 
He said that the bureaucrats of the Ministry have the capacity to understand the problems of students studying abroad and make required assessments, adding that all problems can be solved if all stakeholders act together.
 
Minister Özer said that his Ministry has been working in order to make amendments in Law no. 1416 on Students to be sent to Foreign Countries.
 
Özer said that he is ready to take steps in order to respond to all needs of students studying abroad.
 
Minister Özer chatted with students, listened to their views, suggestions and expectations. He gave information about academic studies in the US to the students and vowed to give them all the support they need.
 
Özer had a meeting with education attachés
As a part of his program, Minister Özer Türkiye's education attachés to the US. Education attachés to Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Washington gave information about their activities to Özer.
 
Noting that he has been having both face-to-face and online meetings with education attachés almost every month in order to reinforce their capacities, Özer said that in addition to carrying out scholarship procedures and various different paper works for students studying abroad, he expect them to observe best examples in education and share these with the Ministry so that the Ministry would include them to the education system. 
  
Minister Özer stated that education attachés should come together with Turkish students studying abroad with scholarships more frequently.
