Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk attended the program organized for Material Distribution to Special Education Schools at the Education Devices Production Center. Deputy Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and Director General for Special Education and Guidance Services Nezir Gül accompanied the Minister.
Minister Selçuk said during his speech at the center that the Ministry showed a magnificent performance in the production of education materials, books and sources and production of media and digital contents during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Stressing that lesson materials developed for the students in special education schools should address the visual, audial and social abilities of these students and this requires scientific researches, Selçuk stated that these materials are an important step in the quality improvement of education offered for special children.
Selçuk said that education opportunities must be improved in order to allow disabled students to reach the life they deserve adding that materials are designed for students with medium and heavy mental and hearing impairments, autism and visual impairment.
"Materials will not cause any health hazard"
Materials include knowledge in various fields such as concept, read and write, math, cognitive skills, self-care, daily life, social adaptation and social communication and none of the materials cause any health hazards for students, Selçuk said.
Noting that materials are ergonomic and produced according to the characteristics of students, Selçuk stated, "The Ministry had sent lesson materials to 6 thousand and 600 special education schools or classes in 81 cities of the country in 2019 and 2020. 1500 material sets which are being produced in 2021 will be sent to other special education schools."
