Opening ceremony of the "Technical Support Project for Increasing Quality of Education in Vocational and Technical Education Through the Establishment of Perfection Centers within the context of Quality in Vocational and Technical Education" financed by the Republic of Turkey and the European Union was organized at Vilayetler Evi in Ankara.
Deputy Minister of Education Sadri Şensoy said during his speech at the opening ceremony that, "It is a fact that we are witnessing a paradigm shift in vocational education. Vocational High Schools which are about to become the hope of Turkey are making a contribution to the economy. Vocational and Technical High Schools played an important role during the Covid-19 pandemic."
Şensoy reminded that income of Vocational High Schools from their production has increased during this period and they also started to produce lesson and teaching materials used in their workshops, design skill and experiment labs.
Stressing that "1000 Schools in Vocational Education" which is among the important projects of Minister Mahmut Özer, played an important role in reducing success difference among different types of schools, Şensoy said the purpose of the project was to disseminate the improvement achieved in vocational education to other schools.
"As mentioned by our Minister on various different occasions, there is constant improvement, and development within the framework of paradigm shift vision in vocational education. This project will be another step in this path," said Şensoy.
Şensoy noted that the project began on March 1 of this year adding that "This project aims at increasing cooperation between schools, social partners and private sector through the establishment of perfection centers and training programs designed for teachers and school administrators. The project will be carried out in selected 25 pilot cities."
On-the-job training for 3 thousand students
22 million euro budget project will include technical assistance, grant scheme and equipment procurement phases. The project will be implemented in İstanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Denizli, Antalya, İzmir, Adana, Sivas, Konya, Eskişehir, Trabzon, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Erzincan, Samsun, Tekirdağ, Kayseri, Afyonkarahisar, Gaziantep, Manisa, Çanakkale, Kırşehir, Zonguldak, Malatya and Ankara.
Within the context of the project, 3 thousand students from 25 branches will attend on-the-job training programs and 15 perfection centers will be founded in an effort to allow teachers who work in vocational and technical schools to develop their proficiencies through distance education methods.
Within this framework, 14 of these centers will focus on professional fields and the remaining center will concentrate on foreign language, maths and science training.
Center personnel will attend various different training programs both in the country and abroad.
Perfection centers will establish ties between vocational and technical education and the sector as well as provide regular professional improvement training programs for teachers in order to assist them to follow recent developments in the sector.
