VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOLS MADE 300 MILLION LIRAS CONTRIBUTION TO THE ECONOMY IN 8 MONTHSThe contribution of vocational high schools to the economy through their productions continues. Income earned from the production of vocational high schools has increased by 100 percent in the last two years and reached 503 million 197 thousand and 847 liras in 2020. The contribution to the economy by vocational high schools reached 300 million in the first 8 months of this year.
Production capacity, which is an important contribution used for increasing the practice skills of the vocational high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, continues to increase. Income earned from the production of vocational high schools increased by 100 percent in the last two years and reached 503 million 197 thousand and 847 liras in 2020.
Although the schools were closed for a long time due to Covid-19 pandemic, the upward trend in the production capacity continued to rise. Income earned in vocational high schools increased by 26 percent in the first 8 months of 2021 according to figures belonging to the same period in 2020 and reached 300 million liras.
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stressed that priority in the transformation of vocational education is the reinforcement of education-production and employment cycle adding that another important step in the transformation is increasing the production capacity.
Noting that income earned in the first 8 months of 2021 has increased by 26 when compared to the same period of 2020 and reached 300 million, Özer announced new goals such as:
"We are aiming at achieving an important increase in 2021. This process continues according to our plans and schedules. We have amendments in the production portfolio of vocational and technical schools. We have allocated the increasing production capacity to the reinforcement of workshop infrastructure that has a direct impact on the quality of vocational education. We have started to produce workshop experiment sets used in the vocational schools chosen by the Directorate General for Vocational and Technical Education. Vocational high schools also produced needed lessons and teaching materials. Within this context, we expect to see an important increase in the production until the end of 2021 compared to figures of 2020."
Highest Income Earned in İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir
Stressing that first three schools in the cities which earned the highest income in the first 8 months of 2021 were İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir, Özer said, "During this period, vocational and technical schools located in İstanbul earned 38 million and 645 thousand liras, vocational and technical schools located in Ankara earned 31 million and 698 thousand lira and vocational and technical schools located in İzmir' earned 14 million and 940 thousand liras."
İstanbul Büyükçekmece Kumburgaz Vocational and Technical High School Ranked First
The İstanbul Büyükçekmece Kumburgaz Vocational and Technical High School ranked first with 9 million and 488 liras in the list of production per schools while Gaziantep Şahinbey Mehmet Rüştü Uzel Vocational and Technical High School ranked second with 8 million and 122 thousand liras and Şanlıurfa Karaköprü GAP Vocational and Technical High School ranked third with 7 million and 206 thousand liras income.
Minister Mahmut Özer thanked the Directorate General for Vocational and Technical Education, all provincial directors of education, school principals, teachers and students who successfully managed this process.
