The primary education programs applied after the Law no. 4306 are being revised to identify shortcomings and unnecessary repetitions, subjects for each grade and subjects that continue in the following grades are separately identified based on new requirements, education programs that include fewer topics, but providing in-depth learning opportunities, are developed.
1. EDUCATION PROGRAMS
In the Ministry of National Education, program development activities
are handled and implemented as a versatile and continuous process of identifying
the objectives and behavior to be taught to the students. Development
of education programs is based on institutional cooperation and participation.
After the objectives to be achieved and the content to be learnt is identified,
various learning and teaching methods are selected, teaching materials
are developed and evaluation criteria are defined.
The education and training programs developed focuse on such approaches
as meeting the individual and society needs, applying individual-centered
education processes by integrating theory and practice, teaching the subjects
in-depth, emphasizing the interdisciplinary aspect of the subjects and
providing a rich living environment for the students. The programs further
consider the education standards of the EU countries.
COMPLETED WORK
Program development work is being handled in relation to local, regional
and international dimensions with socio-economic, technological and cultural
factors. The basics that are summarized as social, individual and subject
areas are developed for each subject and grade to establish the general
program framework. Program preparation and development efforts are carried
out by the program development commissions that consist of invited scientists
from universities, and program development, education management, measurement
and assessment experts and area experts.
The "program development" efforts by the Ministry of National
Education, which are based on modern scientific and technical data, that
consider the varying interests, aspirations and abilities of students
within the framework of national requirements and values and that conform
with the various types and levels of education institutions, have resulted
in the preparation and implementation of 184 education programs in the
last five years. In addition, a revised course schedule for 42 weeks has
been implemented.

In 1997, with the implementation of eight years of uninterrupted compulsory education, the education system has been restructured and education programs for primary education, general secondary education, vocational technical secondary education, vocational courses, and private schools and institutions have been reorganized and implemented.
