1.7. PRESCHOOL EDUCATION TEACHERS’ TRAINING PROJECT It is observed that number of teachers with related majors is low in preschool education. Within the faculties under various universities, there are 28 departments raising preschool education teachers but the 957 teachers to be graduated from these schools in 1999-2000 academic year shall not be sufficient to cover the deficit. As envisioned in this project, if the students graduated from child development and education departments of vocational high schools for girls get 105 or more points in the university exam, they shall be enrolled in two-year program at Anatolia University, Faculty of Open Learning and at the same time they may be appointed as expert teaching staff without cadre in their domicile according to the legislation.
