ATATÜRK’S VIEWS ON EDUCATION

  1. Significance of National Education
  2. Today, our most important and most productive task is the national education affairs. We have to be successful in national education affairs and we shall be. The liberation of a nation is only achieved by this way.

  3. General Objective of National Education
  4. It is necessary to develop the abilities of our nation that are very productive in all fields and to provide strong, unchangeable and positive character to future generations .in order to improve our country in areas like science, culture, economy and welfare.

  5. Special Objective of National Education
  6. Masters! The method to be used in education and training is to turn knowledge into a practical and usable device that brings success in material life rather than an extra garnish for human beings, a tool to reign or a civilized pleasure.

  7. Basic Principles in National Education and Training
  1. Extension of Education
  2. The basic pillar of our education policy is to overcome illiteracy. A program that shall include more children and adults every day shall be adopted in national education.

  3. Physical and Emotional Development and National Character
  4. The biggest goal is to improve the national character so as to reach the higher levels indicated by our national history and to give importance to physical development as well as emotional development.

  5. Aim in National Education and Training
  6. To equip the new generations at all education levels with knowledge that shall make them efficient and successful in practical and especially economic life.

  7. Features of Education
  8. Education must be away from all kinds of superstition and alien thoughts; it must be noble, national and patriotic.

  9. Entrepreneurship, Order and Morality
  10. Our national morality must be nourished with civilized principles and free thoughts. Morality based on threats is not a virtue and does not deserve reliance.

  11. Turkish Language and History
  12. Our ultimate goal shall be to acquire an honorable position in history, to produce valuable artistic and scientific achievements that the next generations can benefit from. We shall transfer the same education and thought to our children. Turkish nation that knows the protect its higher independence shall save its language from the yoke of foreign languages as well.

 V.  National Education Policy

Our principle is that national education shall be based on single school and secularism. Our goal in education is to raise citizens that shall increase the economic power and civilisation and social value of the national society.
